Nippon Kan Headquarters received a very special guest on June 7th, 2013.  Lt. Col. Anup Thapa served as the commanding officer of the Nepal Army Rangers and has been a great supporter of the teaching of Homma Kancho and the development of Nippon Kan Aikido within the Nepal Army Rangers in Nepal.

Lt. Col Thapa is currently serving the United Nations in New York and has been working on current problems in Syria.  Lt. Col Thapa was on vacation in the west with his family and stopped by Denver to visit us at Nippon Kan.

Lt. Col Thapa gave a speech to guests who had gathered in the Nippon Kan gardens to welcome him and his family to Denver. He spoke of his support for the relationship between Nippon Kan and the Nepal Army Rangers and the development of Aikido in the Nepalese Army. He also spoke about the role of the Nepalese Army in the world with the United Nations. His words were thoughtful and moving and delivered with grace and humor. During the welcome reception, Lt. Col Thapa and his family had the opportunity to speak with many of our senior students. It was a memorable evening and we thank Lt. Col Thapa and his family for visiting us at Nippon Kan Headquarters.
