AHAN Nippon Kan projects in Denver and around the world are supported by AHAN Nippon Kan General Headquarters and by proceeds from Domo Restaurant, which is housed at Nippon Kan Headquarters. Through Domo’s “Dine at Domo and Feed the World” campaign, AHAN has been able to build 10 orphanages and learning centers throughout Asia as well as supply enough rice every month to feed about 1200 children in need.

An important part of the operating philosophy at AHAN Nippon Kan and Domo Restaurant is to provide a system of symbiotic opportunity for self improvement and self development. Domo Restaurant puts a priority on hiring legal Rakhine, Karen and Mon refugees and there are currently 10 people from Myanmar working at Domo. For these people, maintaining their own traditions and religious events is very important and AHAN Nippon Kan General Headquarters supports these local events.

The Songkran festival is a Buddhist festival that celebrates the lunar New Year with traditions of purification. Among other traditions, this festival includes the ritual of dousing people with water. It proved to be a little chilly to get doused with water on this April day in Denver but nothing stopped the enthusiasm of the celebration!
