The AHAN Nippon Kan Spring Marathon, instructed by Homma Kancho was held April 8th-15th this year. The goal, besides a personal challenge for all students, was to raise funds to make uniforms for the children of Bilay House choir. The Bilay House has a choir of 15 children, and it was Homma Kancho’s idea to make the uniforms for them. On one of his last visits, the Bilay House choir sang at a neighboring village celebration, and they were the only choir that did not have uniforms to wear.

This Spring Marathon was a concentrated week-long effort, with classes organized strategically around student work and family schedules so that the most students could attend. Homma Kancho taught all of the classes and over 360 practice hours were logged. $2800 USD was raised for the choir uniforms. Many Thanks to Homma Kancho and to all participating students for a challenging and successful event!
