Before moving to the United States over 3 decades ago, Homma Kancho taught Aikido at the Misawa American Air Force Base in Northern Japan. Teaching at Misawa Air Force base was the first step in Homma Kancho’s journey to the United States as an Aikido Instructor, and one of his first endeavors was to arrange an Aikido demonstration at the Misawa Air Force Base performed by the late Morihiro Saito Shihan and Shudo Maruyama Shihan. On July 15th, 2011 Mr. Steve Montgomery, stopped by Nippon Kan Headquarters in Denver to visit Homma Kancho while touring the USA on his motorcycle during summer holiday. Mr. Montgomery had not seen Homma Kancho since Misawa Air Force Base where he served at the age of 19.
