Sensei Gaku Homma, Emily Busch:
Dear Senseis,
First of all, I would like to thank
you for all the kindness and hospitality that you showed me
at the Dojo. There are many things I’d like to express,
that I don’t know where to start. The fraternal spirit
that was shared at the Dojo made me become a stronger (person.)
To
the Aikidokas: Don’t ever
forget and don’t ever lose the spirit of the Aiki. Follow
your path—which is what keeps one’s desire to overcome
any obstacle that life presents. I know Aikido has done that
for me. My life has been transformed enormously. My life is
now a new life. I have found spiritual harmony through this
wonderful martial arts. I will continue to practice your art.
THANK
YOU for the sacrifice everyone did in getting me to Denver and
for making one of my dreams come true of training at the Nippon
Kan Dojo. I still have many dreams I want to realize. But for
that, I must practice Aiki at my university. And I will achieve
them with a little help from everyone.
Everyone at Nippon Kan
is wonderful. I am happy that I was able to be part of the Nippon
Kan family, even if it was just for two weeks. Another part
of me is sad that Norman and Julio did not have the spirit
to be Uchideshi and they had the opportunity to stay longer.
I now know that it’s the unity in the organization that
makes things work. Thank you. Thank you very much AHAN Nippon
Kan. Now, my desires to better myself are stronger with this
experience. I am more committed to the world, to Aikido and
to my profession. I will accomplish my dreams of becoming a
person of good in society.
Sensei Emily: It was a pleasure
to have meet you. You are a great woman and you are very special.
Susan Kinne tells me that my faith is so great that when I
was operated on my lung, my spirit was able to win this fight.
I will ask for a wish, that through Aikido we can all overcome
any obstacles. I was able to use (Aikido) it when they amputated
my left leg and my right lung. But that didn’t mean that
my life ended there. Today, I continue to fight. If someone
some one feels sad, tell them about my story and the letter
that Sensei Homma sent me to Nicaragua with doctor Ray that
I treasure very much. I brought it (letter) with me to Denver,
along with my first belt. Thank you very much for all that
you did for me during my stay in Denver. I met many people
and shared many ideas. Thanks to all the people who helped
bring me to AHAN Nippon Kan. The experience, which I will carry
the experience in my spirit, will keep me strong even though
I am ill.
I met a lot of people (in
Denver) and shared ideas with many of them. Thank you everyone
for helping in the project that brought me to AHAN Nippon Kan.
Now, I will be able to return to Nicaragua and put flowers in
Sandra’s tomb in her honor. Silira Monteia and family
know my history. If, in the future, I can be part of your family,
though in actuality, I already feel you are part of my family.
I’m sorry I couldn’t bring gifts for Sensei from
Nicaragua for Sensei. I hope you understand.
Thank you very much! Hope to see you soon!
