Nippon Kan’s 26th Annual Fall Volunteer Project Putting the Beds to Bed at Civic Center Park

1 hour and 55 minutes to finish the project…breaking our record from last year! Nippon Kan youth and adult students, families and friends spent the morning at Denver’s Civic Center Park by the State Capital in downtown Denver this morning, “Putting the Beds to Bed”. Nippon Kan has been working with the Denver Parks Department for the last 26 consecutive years, preparing the flower beds in Civic Center for winter. In fact this now city-wide Denver Parks Department project was started originally by Homma Kancho and Nippon Kan at Cheesman Park in Denver over 26 years ago.

It was a beautiful fall day to clear the flowers of summer and turn the beds for winter. Our Nippon Kan “Army” did a spectacular job; a model of team work and FUN!  Special guest volunteers for this year’s project were Denver City Councilwoman Debbie Ortega and her grandchildren. Every year the Denver Parks Department counts on Nippon Kan to get the job done, and this year we did it in record time!  Many thanks to all!
