The completion ceremony for the new Musubi Do, which roughly translates as “a place of togetherness” in the Nippon Kan Gardens was held on May 12th, 2013. The new Musubi Do area was designed and built by Homma Kancho in amazingly only a month’s time. AHAN Nippon Kan General Headquarters is a Japanese culture center, and the new Musubi Do area reflects Japanese and other Asian cultural influences, making this area a special retreat for Asian customers and staff. Providing employment and support for students with Asian backgrounds and legal refugees from Asia is a priority at Domo Restaurant.

The statue of the Buddha in the Musubi Do area was a gift from Thailand to Nippon Kan about 10 years ago.  Many visitors to the gardens stop to pray to this Buddha, and Homma Kancho began to think, “Our Buddha needs a house…” With that thought…the construction began. The finished Musubi Do area has three areas; the north shrine area which is decorated with statues and artifacts from Nepal and Tibet, the south area which displays a Nepalese mandala and the center area which houses the Buddha in the center of the Musubi Do area.

This Musubi Do area can be used for small lectures and meetings and has room to seat about 40 stools. Use of the Musubi Do area is free to any NPO or University who wishes to use this space for educational purposes.

The Musubi Do completion ceremony was attended by about 50 people from Myanmar and 30 Nippon Kan members and friends by invitation.
