Aikido Nippon Kan Keiko Soran

Homma Kancho led a practice review clinic on December 10th, 2016 for select Nippon Kan students eligible for promotion in the New Year. It was a full day of practice with students of all levels working together under Homma Kancho’s watchful eye. Homma Kancho demonstrated his adept understanding of technique and foundational weapons relationships were also explored.

Gaku Homma, Nippon Kan Kancho was the last live-in uchideshi to the Founder of Aikido Morihei Ueshiba. As the last uchideshi to the Founder, Homma Kancho is one of the last of this generation still living with first- hand knowledge of the life of the Founder and eyewitness understanding of the lives of 1st generation Aikikai Shihan Instructors.
Homma Kancho spent time during the clinic to teach new and senior generations of Nippon Kan students about the history of the Founder and the early development of Aikido that Homma Kancho experienced directly by living with the Founder.

This clinic also served as a fundraising event and all class fees and contributions were donated to AHAN End-of–Year Projects for children in Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Nepal.

The day ended with a feast, prepared by Homma Kancho and Domo Restaurant staff as Homma Kancho “switched hats” to prepare a delicious meal for students and friends. It was a great party with singing, comradery and yes, a little bit of sake! A good time was had by all!
