AHAN Activities in Milwaulkee, Wisconsin
Charles Deiro Sensei and Nippon Kan Wisconsin
have been busy in August with projects aimed at supporting their
community. On August 3rd, students put on a demonstration at the
2002 Wisconsin State Fair. This was the first time Aikido had been
demonstrated at the statewide fair, and was very well received!
On August 6th, Nippon Kan Wisconsin put on a demonstration at the
Village Manor Park for Senior citizens. Over fifty members from
Nippon Kan Wisconsin participated, and everyone; seniors, Aikidoists,
and center staff members alike enjoyed the presentation. Special
thanks to Aikido member Andrew Grosso, staff Chaplin at the Center,
for coordinating the event.
On August 10th, Charles Deiro Sensei and fourteen of his students
helped prepare and serve over 115 meals to those in need at the
St. Andrew’s Episcopalian Church. The meal consisted of sloppy
joes, waxed beans, canned apricots, tossed salad, three bean salad,
bread, fruit pies, milk and juice. Such a deal! and best of all
for those who helped serve!
