The Nippon Kan Youth Members also joined in the summer marathon with a two-month practice challenge of their own. Additional Youth Program classes were held during the week on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school and all Youth Program members were invited to join the challenge. The challenge was instructed by Nippon Kan Summer Challenge uchideshi students from all over the world. Lead instructors for this event were Hiromi Matsuoka from Japan and Nippon Kan Youth Program Instructor Yuji Kosakowski.
