This was a visit to remember for the children of Bilay House as Homma Kancho surprised them at school in the village neighboring Bilay House. The children were delighted to see Homma Kancho and Homma Kancho was delighted with the news from Pastor Bilay, Founder of Bilay House.
The Bilay House is located outside of the village of Ta Ko Lang in the hills near the western border with Myanmar. A benefactor from the area now living in Bangkok had donated 19 hectare of adjoining land to the Bilay House Orphanage Project. The land will be used to plant tapioca to help support the children of Bilay House. Growing tapioca is relatively easy; tapioca is not sensitive to weather conditions and is marketable not only as a food product, but is also used in cosmetics.

Homma Kancho has always told me that the purpose of AHAN is not to support the Bilay House forever. AHAN is here to help us become independent and self sufficient. This is my goal as well for the Bilay House and I always keep Homma Kancho’s words in my mind.
Homma Kancho was supposed to visit us for a few days after he finished teaching in Nepal. The plane crash at the airport in Nepal closed the airport for 4 days; completely changing our schedule. We thought he would not be able to make it at all, and the children were very disappointed. It was a miracle that Homma Kancho was able to leave Nepal one day before the rest of his group and he was able to come see us for one day. He surprised the kids at school and brought a taxi full of supplies for them. All of the children shed tears of joy.
Homma Kancho never forgets a promise that he makes to the children and always brings them things they need on his next visit. God Bless Homma Kancho from all of us at Bilay House.
